Keeping Safe - Explaining the rules
- Adult:
- Well, that's not a telling off, is it? That doesn't mean we're angry or cross, we're just asking you not to do it. Isn't it? Come on, don't get so upset about something like that. You've got to be a brave girl, haven't you? Every now and again, Eleanor, adults have to tell children not to do something. It doesn't mean we're cross, doesn't mean we're angry, it just means we're trying to keep you safe and trying to keep other children safe. OK? All right? And I'm sure whoever said that to you did not mean to tell you off. Right? OK? Where's that big Eleanor smile? Where is it?
- Child:
- I left it in the car.
- Adult:
- You left it in the car?
- Child:
- [nods]
- Adult:
- Oh, am I allowed to use that excuse, then, I left it in my car? If I come to school all grumpy, am I allowed to say that to you?
- Child:
- [nods]
- Adult:
- Am I? Can I say I left it in my car?
- Child:
- [giggles]
- Adult:
- There it is! Go get a tissue, wipe your nose.
