Guidance on Identification
A booklet providing starting points to think about when identifying gifted and talented pupils is available on the identification pages of this website and is relevant to all phases.
Early Years Guidance
There is no specific guidance for the Early Years.
However, G&T in the Early Years is a periodical bulletin for those involved in education in early years settings. It includes information about appropriate strategies for identification and provision for gifted and talented children in the early years phase.
Primary Guidance
This provides information for head teachers, senior managers, governors and those with responsibility for gifted and talented provision within primary schools, as well as for other staff. It includes:
- principles underlying effective identification and provision
- guidance on tailoring provision to meet individual needs
- clear links to the National Quality Standards in Gifted and Talented Education
Secondary Guidance
At present we do not provide any specific guidance for secondary schools. Over the academic year 2006-07, we do intend to develop such guidance. In the interim, secondary schools may wish to refer to the primary guidance and National Strategies Subject Guidance. Secondary schools will want to be aware of the eligibility criteria for student membership of the National Academy for Gifted and Talented Youth.
