A good, well-managed homework programme helps children and young people to develop the skills and
attitudes they will need, for successful lifelong learning. Homework also supports the development
of independent learning skills, and provides parents with an opportunity to take part in their
children's education.
The examples of good practice on this site are intended to help schools develop, implement, and
review their homework policies - as well as making available successful strategies for enlisting
parental support. These case study examples follow on from the publication of our homework
guidelines in 1998. Please click here to see a
copy of these.
Whilst the examples are all very different, reflecting the needs, strengths and values of
individual schools, there are many common features reflected in the illustrated policies
and practices.
