Initial Teacher Training

These resources are designed by ITT tutors to support improving the quality of the teaching and learning of early communication, language and literacy in line with the recommendations of the Independent Review of the Teaching of Early Reading. They are designed to be used flexibly and to be adapted to suit the needs of different contexts across the full range of ITT provision.

Review and development materials

  • part one allows for a review of literacy provision against the recommendations of the Rose Review
  • part two, linked to the recommendations, exemplifies teacher knowledge and child experience and identifies relevant research and resources that can be used to support the development of provision

Coaching materials

These materials are geared to enable colleagues in ITT to embed co–coaching in their work with student teachers and practitioners supporting professional learning in the area of Communication language and literacy and beyond. The guidance of Philippa Cordingley of CUREE (Centre for the Use of Research and Evidence in Education) has been central to this development.
