Shine Festival | | SHINE "Celebrating the talent in everyone"
National Schools Festival June 30th-July 4th
This summer, Shine will provide a national platform for schools to showcase the talents and positive
contributions of their pupils. To be part of the first Shine festival and join this national campaign,
schools can schedule special events and celebrations to fit within the festival week and in addition can
have a school profile within the shine website to illustrate the talents of their students.
We can help by sending schools a creative kit of ideas and resources, such as poster blanks,
certificates, stickers as well as assisting with publicity and providing guidelines enabling students to
upload their good work on to the Shine website. We are aiming for a strong media presence across the
country, both regionally and nationally with the endorsement and support of the Prime Minister, Government
Ministers and leaders in business, the arts and the creative industries.

Welcome to the EYFS consultation response | | The Department’s response to public consultation on the content of the Early Years Foundation Stage framework has been published. Download the response
The consultation was launched on 5 May and ran until 28 July 2006 to seek views on the draft EYFS framework. From September 2008, the EYFS will be the phase of learning and development for children in the age range from birth to the end of the academic year in which they turn five (0-5). It will be implemented in all registered early years settings and maintained and independent schools.
These settings will be required to meet the learning, development and welfare requirements in the supporting EYFS package, and to have regard to the guidance associated with those requirements as appropriate.
This will ensure that all young children have access to an integrated learning and care experience that evidence shows enables them to achieve the best outcomes, and gives parents choice of a consistent quality offer whichever setting their child may be attending. (Added 01 October 2006)
