Teacher Research Conference 2008

Improving Teaching Enhancing Learning: Connecting evidence, practice and policy
The Schools, 14-19 & Further Education day, Monday 24th November 2008
Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre,
Westminster,
London
10:30am to 4pm
(coffee and registration 9:30am)

Did you know that there are more than 20 nationally funded teacher research projects currently running  including thousands of teachers? What value could we add if all that learning was gathered together? This is the conference where we try to find out.

The National Teacher Research Panel is hosting its 4th biennial Conference in November 2008, in partnership with the Economic and Social Research Council Teaching and Learning Research Programme, who will be celebrating the six years of school sector work through this joint event to be held in the prestigious QEII conference centre in London.

The event will provide a forum for teachers and school leaders, professional researchers and local and national policy makers to learn together from the  best practitioner research in the system. The conference represents a unique opportunity to examine key issues emerging from rigorous practitioner enquiry over the previous 2 years and has established a reputation for innovation and high quality.

Highlights will include:

  • Keynotes from leading practitioners, researchers and policy-makers
  • Workshops and seminars presented by researchers based in school, further and higher institutions and workplaces on key issues in learning and teaching
  • Exhibitions where you can find out more about research and the use of evidence from key UK organisations
  • The Research CafĂ© where you can attend surgeries with practitioner and academic researchers to discuss findings and network with colleagues over coffee
  • Interactive Zone where you can use research-based tools, games, protocols and materials to understand and apply key findings
  • Publications from TLRP and others in the form of research briefings, commentaries, journals, books, presentations and posters

Further information on the event can be found in the conference leaflet which can be downloaded below. There is no doubt that discussions between the diverse participants - practitioners, policy makers and researchers - and the quality of the selected research, will together serve to generate a productive and exciting synergy.

Admission to the conference is free but will be by invitation only. In order to receive an invitation we are now inviting potential delegates to register their interest before the end of the summer term. If you would like to attend, please visit: http://www.tlrp.org/conference/2008
