Our Values
The Panel has tried to make transparent its own beliefs and the way these shape our actions, and to test these values against the evidence that is available.
Our values relate to the:
- usefulness of research;
- importance of open-mindedness;
- need for teacher interpretation of research;
- importance of collaboration;
- crucial role of teachers in informing academic research;
- evolving nature of engagement in and with research;
- contribution of research to professional morale;
- need to attend to the ethical aspects of teaching and research; and
- importance of assessing quality openly against explicit criteria.
For the underpinning evidence and practical illustrations of these values, please see Research and evidence informed practice in schools: an illustration and discussion of the key issues.
Also in this section, you will find our code of practice, criteria for research and Panel perspectives.
