Data for 2006 is being provided at this website:
http://www.teachernet.gov.uk/management/ims/datadiss/nadata/Autumn Package 2004 has been
archived.
Follow the links on the left hand side to the national 2005 data included in the Pupil Achievement Tracker (PAT). Additional analyses not available in the PAT will also be published.
The national data is split into three sections and contains:
1. National Summary Results. These allow for comparisons of a school’s performance against national averages and trends. A school will be able to calculate where the greatest differences between the two occur. This provides a starting point in identifying the main issues for the school.
2. National Value Added (VA) Information enables a school to: identify which pupils they should be concerned about; to evaluate the school’s effectiveness over the key stages for different types of pupils and to set expectations for pupils entering the key stage. The section provides two tools based on matched pupil level data: Value Added Line Graphs and Progress Charts. Schools can use Value Added Line Graphs to evaluate pupils’ progress between key stages. The graphs enable schools to compare the progress of their pupils with progress achieved nationally taking into account prior performance. The Progress Charts provide information to support schools in raising their expectations of pupil achievement and can be used in setting realistic but challenging targets.
Although PAT also includes
contextual value added (CVA) graphs which take account of various factors about the school and individual pupils, it is not possible to use these graphs outside the software. Information about the model is available here and there is an Excel spreadsheet which can be used to see how the model works.
All the charts and tables are available to download from the links on the menu bar on the left hand side of this page. You can download the data in PDF, Excel (for VA tables) or Word format. You can also download the particular chart or graph you want by going to the Specific Tables page
3. Transition Matrices used in the Target Setting tool show the progress made by groups of pupils with different prior attainment in the top 25% and 50% schools nationally for value added.
