SEN/LDD Forums

The National Strategies have set up a selection of forums to improve communication and sharing of good practice between users. Forums can be both open and closed. Open forums can be viewed by all users, but if you have been invited to participate in a closed forum you will need to log in using your username and password. Click here to access the National Strategies Forums section of the Standards Site.

The National Strategies have also set up two closed SEN/LDD Forums:

1. The Hubs of Effective practice Forum

This is a closed site for members of Local Authority representatives of the Hubs of Effective practice. The Hubs have been set up to share key information and materials linked to:

a. Effective use of data

This Forum is designed to improve communication between Local Authorities and the LA Hubs. The purpose of the Hub is to support effective use of data, at school and LA levels, to secure good progress and maximise achievement for pupils with SEN in all settings.

b. Developing a flexible range of provision

The Forum aims to support LAs to: a. Develop and manage a flexible continuum of provision that is best able to meet an identified range of SEN/LDD, including provision to meet the needs of pupils with BESD. b. Support low and/or reducing reliance on statements as a mechanism to meet SEN/LDD. c. Reduce the need to place children out of LA in order to meet needs.

c. Deployment of Support Services

This Hub forum aims to support the development of support and outreach services to be more effective in building the capacity of mainstream schools to provide effectively for pupils with SEN.

2. The Inclusion Development Programme (IDP) Forum:

The Forum is currently a closed site linked to speech, language and communication and dyslexia.

If you are a registered member of the SEN/LDD or IDP Jive Forums please click here to log on and access the site. It is hoped that good practice guidance will be disseminated nationally in Summer 2008.
