Once a complete set of outline units has been agreed upon, it is important to establish whether they should be taught in any specific order to support progression in learning, and to say when each unit should begin within the year. School events and moderation times and assessment points should be considered.
This process should be repeated for all year groups as the new programmes of study come into force.
School A curriculum map and time line for adapted sample teaching units (18 KB)
This time line shows how the adapted sample teaching units are spread across the school year. It includes assessment points throughout the year.
School B curriculum map and time line (18 KB)
This time line shows how the adapted units produced by school B are spread across the school year. It includes assessment points throughout the year.
At this stage, it is worth looking again at the learning objectives to check whether further refinement of the unit plans is necessary to address the needs of pupils who are working at higher or lower levels. You also need to ensure that all pupils are given sufficient opportunities to demonstrate what they know, understand and can do. The plans should ensure that there are opportunities for multiple outcomes to cater for all learners, including those with special educational needs, the gifted and talented, and pupils of different ethnic origin and social class.
