Secondary National Strategy, Key Stage 3

The Secondary National Strategy aims to strengthen teaching and learning across the curriculum for all pupils aged 11 to 14.

• The renewed Secondary Frameworks website is now live.
• The National Strategies is working to improve the delivery of its products over the internet. Please see The National Strategies on the web for details on how to get involved.  
• A new Behaviour and Attendance focus area has been created: Improving attendance and reducing persistent absence.
• The Secondary Intervention site has been updated with new Teaching Assistant and Study Plus modules. These additions will help in the planning and delivery of intervention strategies in English and mathematics.
• The Gifted and talented - primary and secondary focus area provides a range of guidance, materials and resources for meeting the needs of gifted and talented learners.
• The new P scales focus area is now live.
• Following the official launch of the Secondary Social and Emotional Aspects of Learning (SEAL) programme, targeted resources can be found on the SEAL website.
• Visit the new Primary and Secondary National Strategies SEN area.
• A new Teaching Speaking and Listening website is now available. The site is designed to help English subject leaders, teachers and teaching assistants improve their teaching of speaking and listening.
• Audio recordings of The Globe Theatre's 2007 production of Much Ado About Nothing are available to download from the Improving the Teaching of Shakespeare area.
• An electronic Professional Development Module for improving the use of data to evaluate school performance is now available.
• New KS3 ICT assessment tasks are being developed. They are designed to be used for formative assessment  to help schools in driving improvement and raising standards.
• Assessing pupils' progress in English is a website for teachers, containing resources to support you in assessing pupil progress (APP) in reading and writing at Key Stage 3.
