A condensed Key Stage 3: Designing a flexible curriculum - and Supplementary guidance
This guidance is intended to help schools to make effective use of the flexibility in the Key Stage 3 curriculum. It is based on early lessons learned from the two year Key Stage 3 project. This is an ongoing project that is still being evaluated and consequently this guidance may be subject to further revisions. This guidance also builds on the earlier DCSF and QCA joint publication
Designing the Key Stage 3 Curriculum which describes, with examples, how to design and timetable a Key Stage 3 curriculum that is relevant to an individual school’s circumstances.
The supplementary guidance is intended to help departments in planning to meet National Curriculum requirements when they are designing a condensed Key Stage 3 curriculum. It has been based on early lessons from the two-year Key Stage 3 project. A DVD is available to order from Prolog, by quoting the following reference number: DCSF 00032-2007DVD-EN. This is based on the lessons learned from the Two Year Key Stage 3 project and provides guidance to help schools evaluate their readiness to implement a condensed Key Stage 3 curriculum and make effective use of the flexibility in the Key Stage 3 curriculum.
