The School Performance Collaborative project was launched in November 2003 by DfES to highlight the need to identify and tackle underperformance.  A total of 124 secondary schools from 20 local authorities took part; 92 were deemed underperforming and the remaining 32 were high performers acting as exemplars.

At the launch of the project, four regional collaboratives were formed during the autumn and spring terms of 2003/04.  A Performance Collaborative Framework was made available to the schools which set out the aims and objectives of the project and clarified roles and expectations.

The project was evaluated and the report is now available to view or download.  It explores the value and impact of the various features of the project, including the innovative use of value added data and the unique role of the individual collaboratives.  The report also identifies a number of key findings and assesses the project’s impact on the performance of the individual schools.
